For years, we’ve used our concrete boom pumps as line pumps, which worked well in most cases. But we kept hearing from builders and contractors that they would like a line pump, especially for some of their residential work.

Concrete pumping, like many arms of construction industry isn’t a 9am to 5pm job.

At Easy Reach Concrete Pumping, our pumps and crew can be onsite any time of the day or night. Our wonderful admin team are available 7am to 3pm to manage bookings and assist with onboarding, compliance and any other administrative requirement of using our concrete pumps onsite.

However, in construction, there are some things we can’t plan for. Weather events is the main one, especially in wet season. Our “big girl” is a 52m concrete boom pump that has been part of the Easy Reach Concrete Pumping fleet in Townsville for almost six years now.  Can you believe it?!

Under the Concrete Pumping Code of Practice, concrete boom pumps in Queensland need to have an annual inspection every year and a major inspection every 6 years.  So the “big girl” is getting her first major check up!

This photo was taken today at the start of her major inspection and shows how big she really is.  The 52m boom pump is on full stretch along the ground (not her normal position!) at our Townsville Depot and she’s taking up our whole yard.  Lucky the rest of our fleet is busy on civil, industrial, residential and commercial construction sites around Townsville, because she’s not letting them in!

Our 52m concrete boom pump has played a role in placing concrete into some of the newest high rise structures around Townsville, such as the Ardo Hotel and the Mater Hospital’s Multi-Story Car Park.  It has also been used for many other projects such as ports, schools, pathways, and roads to name a few.  Last summer, the 52m boom was handy on a mine site to reduce the number of pours required on a project, minimising manual handling and labour in our unforgiving weather leading up to wet season.  So if you need a big pump for a project in North Queensland, please give us a call and discuss how our fleet can make your next concrete pour easier.  We also have 32m, 38m, 40m and 42m boom pumps that are capable of both boom pumping and high pressure line pumping.

May is Queensland Small Business Month. It is a time to celebrate the hard work of not only our business but the many small business customers and suppliers who support us.

May 2024 also marks the 12th anniversary of Easy Reach Concrete Pumping being a registered company.  Andrew and Amanda Trezona’s start as small business owners.

Small business is a hard gig.  Most people do it while raising a family and/or trying to balance many other things they love.  The learning never ends and at times, you wonder if all your blood, sweat and tears are worth it.  While other days you smile from ear to ear at your hard work and accomplishments.

One of the many things that makes life easier as a small business owner is surrounding yourself with the right people.  We are very fortunate to have a wonderful team.  Without our hardworking and reliable team, we wouldn’t have been able to recharge our batteries recently on a family get away.  So this small business month, we say thank you to Glenn, Rehannon, Shane, Judd, Noah, Chris, Ethan and all of our past employees who have shaped Easy Reach into the business it is today.

 

This wet season has already given us a fair share of weather events to keep an eye on.  As we currently prepare for the possibility of a cyclone crossing the North Queensland coast this week, we have also been managing heat wave conditions and reviewing many of our concrete pumping guidelines and safety procedures that help keep our staff, other workers and the general public safe.

Our operators and the principal contractors we work with, take a lot into consideration when using a concrete pump onsite.  Some weather considerations include:

• Temperature and how this will affect the concrete mix and its ability to be pumped
• Winds
• Recent rainfall
• Ground conditions

Our specifications sheet for each concrete pump can be downloaded on the Fleet page of our website.  These sheets include important information when planning a concrete pour with a pump, such as maximum bearing pressure, the weight of the pump, the outrigger footprint and maximum wind speed for operation.

Our crews are back at work, and the pumps have had their annual boom inspections and routine servicing completed.  So, we’re ready to pump concrete for your next project.

We often have a rainy start to the year in Townsville.  Between jobs, we make the most of this time by getting our annual boom inspections done and any routine servicing completed.  Concrete pumping is considered a high risk construction activity, so there are a number of checks and balances that need to be completed to ensure the safety of our crew, customers, other subcontractors and the general public.  Easy Reach Concrete Pumping take this very seriously and are regularly commended by our customers for having well-maintained machinery and up to date paperwork.  Copies of our SWMS, plant risk assessment, insurances, annual inspections, major inspections, certificate of inspections, plant registration, truck registration, maintenance records, pre-start checklists, licences and tickets can be provided by emailing our office – admin@easyreachconcretepumping.com

In 2023, we loved playing our small part in the development of North Queensland.  We travelled as far west as Mount Isa, south to the Burdekin, north to Tully and east to Magnetic Island.

Easy Reach Concrete Pumping helped change Townsville’s skyline providing concrete pumping services for the Ardo Hotel.  While also contributing to the construction of new homes, school buildings, disability accommodation, hospitals, defence projects, industrial estates, energy and water infrastructure, highways and residential estates.  From the small shed slabs through to large projects, we have enjoyed it all.

We are excited for 2024 and the new projects in the pipeline.  We will keep investing in our team and equipment to continue providing high quality concrete pumping to the North Queensland construction industry.  We’re looking forward to our next significant milestone, our 10, 000th concrete pour in the New Year!
